You can find me on Instagram @rachelwithless where I post a picture on a daily basis what I have decided to throw out that day. I have been trying to follow the Marie Kondo method of tidying for the most part. This method of decluttering is detailed in her book ‘The Life Changing Magic of Tidying’. This method focuses on doing your decluttering on a category by category basis – starting with clothes then moving on to books, then paper, then komono (a.k.a Miscellaneous) and finally sentimental items are last. This method focuses on what ‘sparks joy’ when you hold it. If it doesn’t spark joy to you then you need to let it go. The order of categories is such that you are starting which what she believes is the least sentimental category, clothes, and then working up to the most sentimental items you own.
So far I have sorted through my clothes and books. I have skipped on to komono to ‘clear the clutter’ and get rid of a lot of the items that are currently cluttering up my home. And I feel clearing this category is a bit easier for me than doing paper as I have sentimental paper mixed in with everyday paperwork so sorting out that is going to slow my decluttering down when I come to doing it.
